Where: Pete's Apizza Clarendon edition
Who: Garretthubb, Muggsy
Is there anything better than unknowingly walking into an awesome pizza discount. Muggsy and I wanted a good meal on a cold, gross day before going to the movies. We decided to check out a Pete's location we hadn't been to. The great news was that Pete's was running a "Monday Madness" promotion every Monday in March. Our pizza was 1/2 price! The bad news of such a great deal is that Pete's was very crowded. Lots of families partaking in a good deal on some good pizza.
The pizza itself was very good. Nice thin crust with a little bit of char to it. The pizza is solid in the center, not soupy. Obviously Pete's harkens to a CT style, not a Neapolitan one. I think some of the non-pizza items are what makes Pete's really good. We each got a salad and they were very good! It was also nice to see that this Pete's location has a good selection of on tap brews. The Clarendon branch also seems to have more seating to our familiar Columbia Heights branch.
Of special note, I must give a shout out to the three young ladies sitting next to us. These three women put us to shame by ordering not one pizza, not two, but three pizzas! I don't mean three individual sized pizzas, two 14" Pizza and an 18" pie! A tip of the hats ladies!

Vace Pizza Clevland Park
Where: Vace Pizza (Cleveland Park Location)
Who: garretthubb, Muggsy
So it has been a while since anyone posted on here... but here we go.
Woke up yesterday and muggsy and I decided a walk up to Cleveland Park would be a good thing. Muggsy also wanted to get some Italian Cookies for someone's birthday, so Vace being a great Italian Market would have cookies.
We got a large pizza with roasted red peppers and onion. Vace has really fantastic crust on their pizza. The crust is probably the tops in DC! The toppings however are nothing spectacular. The ratio of red pepper to onion was decidedly in favor of the onions.
Overall this was a fantastic pizza experience. We watched House of Cards episodes 5-7, so it was a great DC afternoon, enjoying some political intrigue and tasty pizza!

Pizza Week in the Snow
2/8, 2/9, 2/10, 2/11
Where Radius Pizza (Mt. Pleasant) x 2, Pete's Pizza (Columbia Heights), Astor
Who: Obama, Dozer, K Walnut, Elliot, Will, Aaron, others
So as you probably aware there was a lot of snow in the DC area last week. Apparently this means I eat a lot of pizza. The good news is that I am within walking distance of several delicious pizza places.
There were two trips to Radius Pizza on Mt. Pleasant St. They have a great happy hour special of a beer and a slice for $5. I had many of these. I can't really think of much that is better than a slice of pizza and a frosty beer. There were trips here on both Monday and Thursday. Not bad.
Pete's Pizza is another quality spot in Columbia Heights. The visit here was born out of the need to not walk very far. Having been here not too long ago I had discovered the pepper and onion pizza is a delicious option. I had two slices of this. It was fantastic.
Astor is a local place offering a wide variety of foods. This includes some pizza options. This was more of an emergency stop off for Obama, Elliot and I. We needed some food so we split a pizza. I also got a salad and they got some humus. Other folks are very high on this pizza, I think there other options at astor (like sandwiches) that are much better.
So an excellent week of not accomplishing very much was improved by some excellent pizza pie.

Radius Pizza
Where: Radius Pizza Mt. Pleasant St.
When: 1/10/09
Who: garretthubb, obama
Radius has a great deal during Happy Hour, a slice and a pint for $5. We set out there for some pizza after watching the Ravens Vs. Patriots game. To our astonishment this deal is extended all day on Saturday and Sunday as well. What a great way to watch the Packers vs. Cardinals!
I got 3 slices of cheese and 3 pints of some amber beer (note: the beers on tap are unusual, I don't recall what they have). The slices were pipping hot and delicious and the beer was cold and delicious. The football game was highly entertaining considering that I usually just watch the Redskins and they never score.
I would highly recommend this for a Happy Hour or a Saturday/Sunday afternoon of pizza and beer, two of God's top five greatest creations.

Silver Spring Pizza
When: 12/17/09
Where: Mama Lucia in Silver Spring
Who: B-Flo and garretthubb
B-Flo and I went and checked out "Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas" at the AFI in Silver Spring. We went with our buddies Micaela and Brian. The movie is pretty great! The River Bottom Nightmare band is fantastic. I really love the line from their song:
"We don't wish to learn, but we hate what we don't understand."
After the movie we hit up Mama Lucia's for some pizza. It is excellent pizza there. The sauce is a little off sometimes. I can't quite say what I am not super into about it, but it works well with the cheese, just if you get some by itself is not my favorite.

Pizza and a Movie
When: 11/3/09
Where: Bethesda
Who: garretthubb, b-flo
B-Flo and I went and checked out "The Damned United" a movie about Brian Clough's 44 days in charge of Leeds United. I really appreciate B-Flo indulging me by going to a movie about 70's English Football. The movie was enjoyable. It was almost more of a bro-manatic comedy than a sports movie, but that was kinda cool for two good buddies to go see together.
Afterwards we went to Pizzeria Uno's. This was maybe not the best pizza based decision we have ever made. The pizza was OK. The waiter was pretty hilarious. Featuring an extremely thick Eastern European accent he didn't understand what I meant when I ordered the seasonal Sam Adams. He also definitely said "Awesome" when giving us the cheese and red pepper. He didn't say anything else, just "Awesome".

Caps Opener
10/1/09
My House, Just Me.
I really wanted to run tonight. I feel like I have been slacking big time. I also went to the doctor this week and my weight was 5 lbs more than it should be and 15 lbs more than I want it to be, so running is needed. However, I got sucked into two thirty plus min. conversations when I got home and by the time I had a chance to get ready to go it was already too late. It sucks eating lunch @ 10:30 AM everyday, it makes eating dinner after 7 PM kinda unbearable.
However, my spirits were lifted by the caps opener against the bruins. Suck it bruins!
I popped a Amy's Organic Margherita pizza in the oven. I looked at the stack of lab reports I brought home and realized the kids mixed up folders and did a generally horrible job on organizing things. So instead of grading and hockey, it will be pizza and hockey with a stern lecture to the kids tomorrow.
Somehow I feel like more nights of pizza, hockey and solitude are in my future.
